What does the quote from Williams Shakespeare ';This above all: To thine own self be true.'; mean?

I'm doing an english report and i need to know what it means

pleas if you can help then help! What does the quote from Williams Shakespeare ';This above all: To thine own self be true.'; mean?
';To Thine Own Self Be True'; very simply means do not let others influence your behavior. Know who you are, what your morals are, and be the person YOU want to be; not what others expect of your.

It's a statement about peer pressure and not caving in and losing your sense of self.
