';What does true patriotism mean to you?';?

I HAVE TO RIGHT A 1500 WORD ESSAY ON THE MEANING OF PATRIOTISM, AND I KIND OF NEED A LITTLE HELP. I JUST DON'T NEED SENTENCES OR WORDS BUT IN DEPTH MEANING';What does true patriotism mean to you?';?
Well, I'm not going to write your essay for you, but I've always found that a good quote can go a long way. Here are some quotes on patriotism:

';Each man must for himself alone decide what is right and what is wrong, which course is patriotic and which isn't. You cannot shirk this and be a man. To decide against your conviction is to be an unqualified and excusable traitor, both to yourself and to your country, let men label you as they may.'; - Mark Twain

';Patriotism is your conviction that this country is superior to all others because you were born in it.'; - George Bernard Shaw

';Do not... regard the critics as questionable patriots. What were Washington and Jefferson and Adams but profound critics of the colonial status quo?'; - Adlai Stevenson

';Nationalism (patriotism) is an infantile disease. It is the measles of mankind.'; - Albert Einstein

';Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel.'; - Samuel Johnson

And my personal favorite:

';Patriotism is supporting your country all the time, and your government when it deserves it.'; - Mark Twain

I hope that helps. Good luck on your essay!';What does true patriotism mean to you?';?
The word true is important in the phrase. True Patriotism isn't just waving a flag in front of your house, or knowing the words to the National Anthem. True Patriotism is a feeling that you would do anything out of the pride you have in your heart for your country.
oh yeah i had to do that when i was in school. i thought it was bullshit. they make you write about why your an american patriot. what if your not? i mean i think you should be able to choose your own topic. they cant make you write about something you dont believe can they?
