Some guys may be mean to women they like, because they're jealous and possessive. This type of male has the capacity to be an abuser because of his jealous tendencies. If a guy of any age forbids his girlfriend to even look at other guys, or doesn't want her to hang out with her friends or do things with her families, criticizes her hair, her clothes and her makeup, and always checks up on her, you can bet the man is a potential abuser. His emotion is not love, but possessive jealousy.





As far as playful teasing, that's not being mean. That's simply trying to get a girl's attention. That ploy is often used by the younger fellow or teenager, who would rather do this than admit to his friends that he likes a certain girl. So there's a big difference between him and the jealous type.





The ideal man is kind and respectful to the woman he loves, and will do anything to protect her and make her happy.
Depends on the guy, but I think it's true. When you like someone and keep denying it (for some reason), you still want to get a reaction out of the girl that you are attracted to. Some guys do this by mean flirting... not mean by being a complete jerk, but subtle meanness, just enough to let her know you exist.





Sure some guys in their 30's act this way, especially towards women that they think are 'out of their league.' It's the only way (they feel) that they can get a reaction or some kind of emotion out of the woman.
This depends on the person.





While it definitely applys to younger boys, I have found some older men follow the saying 'Treat em' mean, keep em' keen', because they have absolutely no idea how to treat women and that makes them insecure.





Doesn't make them a bad person, just means they need to learn the right way and gain some confidence.
Years ago, I thought this behavior is only applicable to school boys and teens.


All my adult life however I constantly meet school boys at any ages who are very mean I do not know why.


They either much hate me, or much like me - or something else - simply anything - but always show funny childish behavior.


And this happens with the most men I meet.


I don't know why.


To me it is such FUN really TO ALWAYS NOTICE AND OBSERVE THAT.
Not me. I'm just weird. I'll like just give sheepish smiles and the most minute of touches (like pokes on the foot while we're all sitting round or kinda leaning on her for a moment then off) and we'll usually just pass this back and forth. And I'll be sure to wear my jeans tighter and flip my hair more hahah. Just wait and wait and wait until I can't stand it anymore. And other guys do it for the simplest of reasons: they're total bags.

If they are mean to a girl they like, it's more than likely they have no idea how to interact with said girl, and so revert to the most masculine form they know - being tough. It applies to men of all ages.
Some guys are mean to the women they fancy because they generally are just dirt bags! I see this a lot! I don't understand why women stay with these type of guys, it confuses me. I am a nice guy and when I like a girl I am so nice to her. Hope I helped (:
Those that are (any age) are just trying to control the woman. trying to get a grip on her so she is afraid of him and afraid to venture out.
young boys will do this because they haven't developed how to aproch the subject or really know why. a 30 year old should not be doing this. and if he is he may have some issues.

If YOU liked a guy, would you be mean to him? Probably not, because you want him to like you. So why would a guy be mean to someone whose approval he wants?
Maybe teenage boys try to use that tactic but if a real man is interested in a woman he will treat her well.
