What does being a true yankee mean?

No yankee haters pleaseWhat does being a true yankee mean?
These people who have answered have no idea wtf they're talking about. Being a true Yankee has many definitions. One is being clutch in October, and winning a ring. Another is hitting a walk-off. Any team suffices, but it is especially special against the Sox (that is why people called A-Rod a true Yankee for his walk-off earlier this year against the Sox). What does being a true yankee mean?
It means that you are a true Yankee fan and not just a fairweather fan. It means you are a Yankees fan regardless of how good or bad they are.

Means that you hate the Red Sox. :]
Die Hard not the fair weather fans.

You bleed pinstripes...

You are an honorary Bleacher Creature...!!!
Constantly reminding other fans that they have 26 rings.

EDIT: Oh, the players. IDK, try to get as much money as possible?
it means taking it in the butt a couple times a day
Pride Power Pinstripes- Michael Kay
Sticking with your team no matter what kind of adversity comes your way and how much criticism you take from the fans. Being a team-player, being active in both baseball and the community.
Being with the team for a good amount of time and being liked alot by the fans. Another thing, coming through when you are really needed.

Examples of true yankees on the team right now -

Derek Jeter

Jorge Posada

Mariano Rivera

Alex Rodriguez

Hideki Matsui

give players like tex, cano, cc, aj, melky, damon, etc a couple more years and they will also be considered a true yankee.
It means you like the fact that #2 wanted the same announcement for his at-bat on opening day as in the old stadium. It means you get teary-eyed every time you watch the seventh inning stretch at home. It means that you know what it takes to win, then win the WS again.

If you have a chance to come through at a crucial moment in the game, no matter your place in the line-up or your position on the field, then you do the little things that account for the teamwork involved to put together a winning team. The true Yankee player is like a member of a club that has to be initiated. There comes a time in a players first few months that you 'just know' he's really 'on the team now'. It could be a winning play, or a great defensive save, or a timely sac fly.
