What is a Cajun, did they come from France? What does it mean when saying True Cajun?

Sharing my genealogy with family members ,brought about these questions and much debate ,on who was wrong or right.True Cajun is French, true Cajun mixed race of French and *****?What is a Cajun, did they come from France? What does it mean when saying True Cajun?
I don't think there is such a thing as a ';true'; Cajun in the manner you are speaking of. ';Acadian'; or ';Cajun'; applies to a people from a locale, not a bloodline.

There were at one time, full-blooded Acadians simply due to the fact they lived in Acadia. There still may be some descendants, but who is to say what bloodlines were mixed in the hundreds of years past? Who kept accurate records pertaining to every person?

By general definition, a ';Cajun'; is a descendent of Acadians. Even among those that emigrated from France, how can a pure bloodline be established?

For example, I am primarily of Scottish descent, but I also have Choctaw, Creek (American Indian), and English forebears. And, the Scots have their roots in ancient Scandinavia. Does that make me a Scot, Swede or Norwegian instead of a True Scot, True Swede, or True Norwegian? No, obviously not.

I think what you are, are Americans of Acadian/French descent. What is a Cajun, did they come from France? What does it mean when saying True Cajun?

They are French Canadians who were 'kicked out' of

Canada and moved to current day Louisiana where they intermarried with local indigenous peoples (Native Americans, etc)
As I understand it there is simply a Cajun - by right of being born and living in southern Louisiana (primarily by the Atchafalaya basin swamp areas) and French Cajun - they speak a true French dialect i.e. have ancestors from France.
