That's how it is with other animals the male is more colorful and unique. If you notice all hot women look the same but men all look different. So if women wear make-up to hide there true face does that mean men are more attractive?
Wrong. Women wear makeup regardless of how good they look. In nature, the beautiful sex, is the one that courts the mild looking sex. In some animals that is the male (the Peacock for instance) or it can be the female (Butterfly).
Men are not necessarily better looking, we just don't have to be good looking to find a mate. Women are not so lucky.
Edit: for those of you who don't think it's the women who do the courting: ';Times are'a changin'.';
Historically speaking, women have worn makeup more, during their more free and able eras. When they are less powerful, they have been pressed to refrain from decorating themselves. This also goes for men in high places. Powerful men throughout history, have worn more makeup or other decorations, than men who are comparatively powerless.
The feministic ';empowerment'; often involves ';taking back [their] bodies'; and not being ashamed of it. (beauty again). Those who oppress women, call it ';sl*tty[ness]';. At the same time, men who are currently more powerful, and therefore more entitled to decorate ourselves or look attractive without reproach, go shamelessly out with what ever look we please. (example being the ';naked cowboy'; of New York. He wears a hat and tight underwear, and nothing else. The press and public love him. He's being paid millions (though he started this as a transient, playing his guitar for pennies) If a would be empowered woman of today tried that, she'd be harshly chastised.
This is the part where the world is changing. Men are being encouraged to look better (many of us don't bother), and women are being more and more encouraged to do the same. I haven't seen a simultaneous trend of beauty encouragement in any of my history books, since...The dawn of feminism, then the french revolution... Both were times of new power for the formerly oppressed.
Face it: Beauty is power, and makeup is power also.So if women wear make-up to hide there true face does that mean men are more attractive?
Women who wear makeup don't do it to ';hide';, at least most of them don't...it is there to improve flaws, like skin texture or wrinkling, or to enhance features, like using mascara and eyeshadow to make the eyes more almond-shaped...
I have often wondered myself why in the human species the MALE isn't the ';flamboyant'; one, the way it is in the animal world....but it is what it is....
If you have ever been near a Player's Ball you don't doubt there are some ';human male peacocks'; around...and there is a tribe called the Wodaabe and the men dress up and dance for the women.
Not really. I never wear make-up, and I know other women who don't, either.
Many women wear make-up because we're all brought up to think that we have to be pretty, which makes us feel like we aren't pretty enough.
Everywhere, you see really attractive girls, and it makes you think that all girls should be like that.
Plus, make-up doesn't completely hide your true face, it just puts more color in it and covers its flaws.
Not all hot women look the same, and not all men look different.
LOL. Well, if thinking about females of the world makes you so unhappy and disappointed, why not switch for the other team. If to you male species seem to be 'more attractive, colorful and unique', you must be sexually attracted to them. However, most men admire us just the way we are. So, we are not worried.
The males are more colorful and unique due to sexual dimorphism, i.e., the females select for the more attractive males to mate with and over time there is a difference in the appearance and size of the two sexes.
Some women are very attractive without make up, so I don't think there is any correlation.
Did you know that lipstick was originated by ancient Greek prostitutes to advertise one of their services.
Pournos is the Greek word for prostitute and graphia is the Greek for scribbling or writing so pornography is actually whorescribbles. Ain't words neat?
All of the Bond girls as actually described by Ian Fleming in the books wore very very little make up and never wore fingernail polish.
I think natural women are beautiful
im a woman. i dont get make up, it seems foreign to me, to plaster that sh@t on my face. in the unedited book of the bible, the book of enoch, its said the fallen taught men how to use weapons and women how to paint their faces.
to me, the stuff makes you look old. and you look like crap when you take it off. but thats just me, maybe im deluded. men and women can be vain alike.
Wearing makeup and covering imperfections is essentially hiding your true face because you are showing people what you don't really look like. How is someone supposed to love you for you if you won't show them.
This does no mean men are more attractive by default
Women wear makeup to enhance their faces, not hide them. And I haven't noticed that all women look the same. And the males of most species may be more colourful, bu tthey are certainly not unique. One peacock looks much like another.
No, I'm pretty sure my face still looks the same when I wear make up. I don't suddenly get a knew one but if it makes you feel better to be prettier than women, then sure, men are more attractive.
Women don't wear makeup to hide their ';True'; face. Most wear it to bring out their better features and to cover flaws.
who said makeup is for hiding a woman's true face? who's spreading this kind of ignorance?
it does mean that women are not more beautiful than men...
Well, maybe you should pay more attention to men.
Daniel hit the nail on the head there :)
That depends which sex you're attracted to....
No
Yes we are more attractive. The secret is that it's not because of our faces. Men are attractive becasue we make money and treat women like they are important (Although this is commonly called ';good manners'; or ';chivalry';).
Women are attractive becasue they look good. Unfortunately for them, this quality is limited to what you're born with (although make up and surgery can help to some extent) and only diminishes as they get older.
