I have a 4 yr old Husky that was my brothers and I now have. He is not fixed. I've been told that after he's been fixed he will settle down a bit. But my fear is the dog will become mean.Is it true a dog will become mean if he is fixed as an adult?
What you've been told is correct, it should calm him down a bit. Fixing a dog does not usually make it mean.Is it true a dog will become mean if he is fixed as an adult?
Do not be afraid that he will become mean.
Although anything is possible, I have never heard of an adult becoming mean after being spayed or neutered.
Usually, a dog will calm down a bit after being altered and it helps with a lot of unwanted behavior (running away to find a mate, marking territory).
Having him neutered will also help to keep him healthier longer.
As with any surgery, there is a risk with neutering, but having him neutered even at this age is better for him.
Neutering is usually one of the 1st suggestions you'll get for an aggressive dog. A dog can be trained to become mean by not spending time with him, not exercising him, being unfair to him and having unrealistic expectations of him, physically punishing him, and not being in touch with the dog's needs. If you want to learn how to teach your dog, take a clicker training class - you will both have a great time!
no, its a good idea to get your dog fixed,he wont become mean,as a mater of fact he will settle down a little, usually if a dog is abused, or hit on, usually he will be mean, or shy
no, it calms them down. they can become nasty if they aren't neutered and don't have a mate. both my dogs are neutered and it calmed them down a lot.
He will probably not settle down now... it's too late to really have a noticable effect on his behavior. He won't become mean though, and I recommend you fix him anyways.
no the dog will not become mean, he will become a better pet. He won't try to get out in search of females when he smells one in heat and will be a much nicer pet.
No a when a dog gets fixed they wil not want to mate they will be the same ol dog but will not have the desire to look for a female.
No. Neutering a dog will not cause aggression. I work with a rescue group %26amp; we alter all dogs that come through - regardless of age! (unless they are too old %26amp; wouldn't be able to handle the surgery)
no that is absolutely untrue, in fact it calms them down quite a bit usually
