This is playing with words. If we look behind the words, we see that people crave and seek the same basic thing. The same emotion of wanting to know themselves is what brings the question into being.When people ask ';what is the true meaning of life'; don't they mean ';what is the true purpose';
Purpose and meaning are close in definition but NOT the same.
The 'meaning' of life is not only its purpose but the existential core of it; it's in the living of it. The word, 'meaning' includes daily, even moment to moment experiences. Living in the now, is about life's meaning,
'Purpose' tends to lend itself to an end. For example, If the purpose of racing a car is only to win, then the race itself has little meaning. But if one truly enjoys racing, than every moment in that race from start to finish is enjoying.
It's about the journey, not the destination. So, it's about the meaning, not the purpose.
Siggy
the true meaning of life feels broad while purpose feels individual everyones life has a ';special purpose ';(the jerk, steve martin';
Life may not have a purpose and yet have meaning...a rainbow serves no purpose and yet uplifts the spirit.
yes they do. however, meaning and purpose have different connotations.
It is just another way to say it.
As long as you understand it, don't worry about it.
